Best “Why didn’t I think of that?!” Baby Shower Gift

June 27, 2017 By Jelli 6 Comments

Choosing baby shower gifts can be a challenge, and no one wants to be that friend who gifted baby his 14th fleece blanket. Break out of the mold and gift your pregnant mama friends something original!

Love practical? The best baby shower gift I’ve ever received was a baby first aid kit.

And you can make or buy this baby shower gift! Adapt it to mom and baby’s needs, the climate, family preferences (is mom earthy or organic?), the number of children in the family (read: more kids, add MORE Bandaids!), etc. Use the list of baby first aid kit supplies as inspiration to build the perfect kit for your friends. No one knows your expecting mama friend’s needs better than you.

P.S. If you’d like to add a little something extra for mom, like a gift card for a pedi (chances are she can’t reach her toes!) or movie tickets but aren’t quite sure what she’d like, run the idea by her main man. Here’s a great list of even more “why didn’t I think of that?” baby shower gifts.

Most of the supplies listed below for the baby first aid kit can be purchased online, but I’ll add links to the DIY’s recipes too. Use your creativity for packaging this all up.

Rather than a forehead thermometer I would recommend a rectal thermometer. In the first few weeks, when fevers can be so serious, a rectal temperature is most accurate.

Thanks for the tip, Hannah. I had no idea that digis were less accurate when babies are tiny. To be honest, I have a hard time with rectal thermometers. My eyes just can’t read those tiny little lines.

YES! I totally agree with this! We got a little baby health kit and it was fabulous! We’re still using it with our third baby!

Aren’t they the best? Mine grows little by little as my kids get sick, but just having the basics when you need them is such a relief!

I love this idea and pinned it, but please do not ever give aspirin to anyone under the age of 18, aspirin can cause Reye’s Syndrome, a rare, but serious condition, so why take a chance, just use Tylenol or Motrin.
