Giveaway: My favorite things!

December 2, 2009 By Jelli 18 Comments

It’s finally here! My favorite season of all AND my first ever giveaway. I love strolling the malls decked out in holiday splendor, wrapping up in warm scarves and strolling the neighborhoods glistening in colored lights, and sipping hot cocoa by the fire. Oh wait…I’m not sure I’ve ever done that, but I sure do love a rich cup of hot chocolate. In honor of the season of giving…

That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep.  Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified,  but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! Luke 2:8-11
I’m giving away some of my favorite things to one lucky reader to share with someone they love. (Is it just me, or is that famous Sound of Music tune singing in your thoughts, too?) That’s right, I’m sending you twin gifts. One to keep, and one to give away. Holiday cheer never tasted so good! Since Christmas begins with “C,” coincidentally, so do my favorite things. I love carols, candles, COCOA, CARDAMOM, and COFFEE! Since I believe in supporting the local economy, each of these items will be shipped to you straight from their origin, Costa Rica. I realize the photo includes Hershey’s Cocoa, only because on shopping day natural cocoa wasn’t in sight. From me to you: 100% natural cocoa powder nationally grown and distributed, which I use in all my baked goods. (Especially delicious in brownies!) Additionally, you’ll receive ground cardamom, my favorite ingredient in homemade chai, and a bag of my trusty morning java grounds.
Enter the giveaway by leaving a comment answering this question:
What is your favorite holiday tune?
Items to be shipped globally. None of that US-residents-only rubbish here. Giveaway is welcome to all..and to all a good afternoon! Giveaway closes Tuesday, December 8th. Additional entries to anyone who blogs about this giveaway and leaves a link. Yes, I’m a little desperate to up the readership here. Good luck, friends!!

My favourite by far is Good King Wenceslas, both because I like the message and because it hardly ever seems to be played by stores so I don’t start hearing it until I actually think it’s time for the holidays.

I can’t believe I’m the first to respond with such a cool giveaway! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE “Mary Did You Know”… I’m not a parent, but I do have two dogs… and everyday I wonder, “What is your future? What will you grow up to be?” So far, they’ve grown up to be lazy, good-for-nothin’, tail waggin’ bundles of joy… but I keep my fingers crossed. Seriously, that song makes me wanna sing at the top of my lungs everytime I hear it… and I don’t sing.

I am totally NOT good at picking favorites of anything (unless it’s dessert-and hands down cake is the best. don’t even argue) but, I do really really love “Mary, Did You Know.”
After reading the comment from Tulip though, I might have to change my answer to “I Wanna Hippopotamus for Christmas”…never heard it, it just sounds awesome!
    Thanks for the giveaway.

Mine is Rocking Around the Christmas Tree… I actually sang it as a solo at a preformance with my high school chorus… oyy if I only knew my grandparents would tape the preformance and bust it out at the holidays…It is not a classic like “Christmas Story” or “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation” however my Papa seems to think so! I think this is only because he laughs so hard milk comes out of his nose!! Oh well… Happy Holidays!!
