MMM: Baby Toys from Around the House

July 29, 2012 By Jelli 8 Comments

Welcome to {Monday Mom Musings} link-up! I’m so excited you came to join the fun. Moms supporting moms is what Monday Mom Musings is all about.

Hi  ladies! This is our last weekend in the Midwest visiting my folks and introducing Summer Elizabeth to all my friends and family up north. Surely you’ll understand if I write a semi-short post this week, right? I sure hope you all link up and visit one another’s mama musings this week, as I will just as soon as we get home on Wednesday afternoon.

infant toys

You’ve  probably realized that babies especially love playing with household items just as much as any packaged plastic blinking, singing, wonder of a toy.  As a mom, it’s a relief to know that I can just reach for the nearest shelf and generally have an instant entertainment tool for my baby.

Here are my baby’s favorite toys from around the house:

  • Wooden-handled rubber spatulas: Pure joy for my little girl! They’re great for teething, since they’ve got solid and a squishy ends.
  • Clothespins: Clip them to baby’s clothes, blankets, toys, or change it up and insert into a water bottle for a shaker toy.
  • Laundry basket: Sit baby inside and slide her around on the floor. Basketfuls of giggles to ensue.
  • Balls
  • Zippers: Give my baby a pillowcase with a zipper and she’s smitten for 10 minutes.
  • Keys
  • Cereal boxes: place it in front of the baby and watch them explore. Make a discovery box and she’ll smile even wider.
  • Thin plastic water bottles. They love to squeeze the bottles and hear them crunch.
  • Remote controls and cordless telephones. They love pushing those buttons, and they’re even more gratifying if them make noise.

Now it’s your turn! Please join me and link up your {Monday Mom Musings}; anecdotes, game & activity ideas, gems of wisdom, crafts, recent triumphs, or anything else that you’ve learned or would like to share with us this week about parenting.

HOW do I link? Read here.
