Almond Joy Green Smoothie

July 19, 2014 By Jelli 12 Comments

Hi friends! This week my family flew stateside to visit my relatives for the first time in two years. They’re snuggling the little ones and trying to shove all the sugar they can into my little girl while Husband and I take evening bike rides and enjoy the local ice cream parlours. That’s a recipe for summer bliss but not so much for coming up with new posts for you.

That’s why I’m so glad my friend Carrie from The Frugal Foodie Mama stepped up to the plate and has a fantastic summer treat for you today. I’m all kinds of crazy for Almond Joy bars, and making them into a green smoothie… See, this gal’s a genius!Almond-Joy-Green-Smoothie-TitledHello all!  My name is Carrie, & I am happy to be hanging out at Jellibean Journals today sharing my deceptively delicious & healthy recipe for this Almond Joy Green Smoothie.

But first let me say hello and tell you a little about myself and my blog… almond joy smoothie
I have been blogging over at Frugal Foodie Mama since January of 2011.  Most often you will find me there sharing my favorite recipes, my antics as a stay-at-home mama to a toddler and a teenager, my tips for how I have managed to remain a foodie on our single income budget, & most recently I have branched out into family friendly travel– reviews & travel guides! 🙂

Now let’s talk about this Almond Joy Green Smoothie, shall we? 😉 It is no secret to my regular readers and followers that I have a crazy mad sweet tooth.  Sweets are my #1 downfall to not always eating as healthy as I would like to.  While I will never completely give them up (moderation not deprivation is my motto!), I do like to create a few lower calorie and lower fat versions of some of my dessert favorites. My fave way to do this?  With simple & creamy green smoothies!

While there are a handful of candy bars that I crave, Almond Joys often top my list.  Creamy coconut & crunchy almonds coated in sweet milk chocolate…

I am pretty happy to report to you all that my Almond Joy Green Smoothie comes pretty close to the real deal. 😉 Perfect for when you need a sweet treat without overindulging…Almond-Joy-Green-Smoothie-1

While I do love veggies you’re right about being able to pack even more in when it’s in smoothie form. What are your favorite ingredients to use, Jennifer? I’m pretty partial to spinach and just recently discovered kale, but am always up for more green smoothie ideas! Thanks for stopping by today.

Thanks so much, Krista! I so wish I grew up on these things! The first time I ever tried a cream puff was in high school. To think I had to wait so long… Have a great day and be sure to tell me how you like them when you give the recipe a try.
