How many times do you get psyched about a recipe, pull out the Pyrex, whip out the whisk, preheat the oven, and then realize that your recipe calls for room-temperature butter? Your butter lives in the fridge. Uh-oh. What can you do to warm the cold butter fast? Time is precious and we don’t want to spend an hour waiting for butter to soften before we can bake.
I cringe to admit the times I’ve nuked sticks of butter in the microwave to hasten it along. Even a novice baker knows what a no-no that is. Thankfully, my mother-in-law showed me how to warm cold butter fast.
I nearly whacked my palm to my forehead when the hub’s mom showed me just how easy it is to quickly warm cold butter. (And she didn’t even realize this was a learning moment for me.)
Slice the cold stick of butter into smaller chunks to help it warm up fast. That’s all folks!

Something I didnt know, I usually out it ontop of the stove if the oven is on and then it gets warm 🙂 I will try this right now, because I am baking today!

Hahahaha, I don’t know why this strikes me as hilarious, but it just does!! Maybe because it is so simple?

Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to remember this next time!

Yep. I have never thought of that! About how long does it take to come to room temperature after you have sliced it?

We are a family of non-believers in the microwave. Threw ours away so long ago. Looking at them makes me cringe. But how I soften my butter is: normally the stove or oven is already on because something is cooking. I place the butter on the stove range, not the burner or anything, and let it sit and get soft that way. Only takes about a couple of minutes and then use it.

I usually wait it out but I won’t lie, I have microwaved before in the past *shame* hahah Great tip! I’ll be doing that when I’m short on time!

Sometimes it’s the simple things that allude us isn’t it?

This post makes me laugh. Obviously, this is a learning moment for myself because I nuke butter often 🙂

Haha…great idea! I never think to cut it into smaller pieces. I usually just sit it close to our cook top when I am cooking.

Great idea…so simple I overlooked it. : )
