January 26, 2013 By Jelli 7 Comments

Homemade peanut butter and banana milkshake.source

Since I’m pregnant, good nutrition is really important for both baby’s and my own health. That doesn’t mean my sweet tooth just vanishes, however.

A girl’s gotta have a few healthy pregnancy desserts on the menu to satisfy those sugar cravings. Is it just me, or do those come every single day?

For the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing what’s on my dessert menu; healthier snacks and dessert options that both the baby mamas and anyone looking for more wholesome dessert recipes will enjoy. First up: chocolate banana peanut butter smoothies.

Oooooo… I love making smoothies with frozen bananas! 🙂 I make one similar except no wheat germ and I add some coffee cubes I make with my leftover morning coffee. 😉 Sometimes I need an afternoon pick-me-up with my smoothie, lol!

I would’ve never thought to mix coffee and bananas, but it sounds great, Carrie! Unfortunately for me, my body just won’t have coffee when I’m pregnant. Even the smell, which would otherwise be enchanting, is repugnant to my pregnant self. Odd, right? I’ll definitely remember this idea come August 🙂

Hi Jelli, I’;m stopping by from the Monday Mingle blog hop-
You’re such a good mama for maintaining healthy eating while being preggo! I had the same smoothie often, only I made mine higher in iron & vitamin C (and MUCH grosser, by the way) by adding spinach. 😛 I was preggo with twins, so every meal had to be chock-full of nutrients (bo-ring!). Your smoothie sounds so much yummier! Best wishes on a healthy, safe pregnancy/delivery!

Wow, twins! I still don’t know what I’m carrying, but I know I’d sure have my hands full if there were twins inside. I’ve actually never tried green smoothies, but I hear they’re pretty tasty. Thanks for visiting today, Nikki. Sure hope to see you around again soon.

Mmmmm this sounds really delicious, even though I don’t really like bananas. It still look delectable :0) I’m a new follower of your blog from the Monday Mingle Blog Hop! Would love if you could stop by mine. Thanks :0)

Ooh – sounds yummy! It’d be healthier with full-fat milk, though. 🙂 (Your body doesn’t assimilate the calcium, vit. A or vit. D effectively without the fat.)

Good point, Rachel. I generally use 2%, but hadn’t really given it much thought. Definitely worthwhile to emphasize getting all those nutrients during pregnancy. Thanks!
