Welcome to {Monday Mom Musings} link-up! I’m so excited you came to join the fun. Moms supporting moms is what Monday Mom Musings is all about.
When baby arrives on the scene, most likely you’ll be out of bed most nights nearly as often as in bed snoozing away. That’s normal. It’s also normal to expect that after some time you and your man will want to take back the bedroom for yourselves. How do you go about moving the baby out of your room?
My husband and I arranged our nursery a week or two before Summer Elizabeth was born. I carefully angled the bookshelf and my favorite turquoise lounge chair in a corner to create a cozy reading/nursing nook. We pushed the desk along the entry wall trying to separate the nursery from “office” space. Thought was put into the location of every single piece of furniture and the baby never moved in. We did.
A bright idea dawned upon us as the baby’s 4 week birthday arrived, the date I’d hoped to move her on out of our bedroom.
Move Yourself Out of the Nursery.
Baby will be most comfortable in the room where she spends her first weeks with you nursing and sleeping through the night. Rather than starting baby off in your room sleeping beside your bed, why not move your bed into her room for the first weeks? This way, the baby never switches rooms & never has to adjust to a new environment. It’s not much extra effort to move your bed into the nursery, and you’ll be grateful for the saved hassle of baby re-adjusting to a new sleeping situation. If you’re not up for taking apart your bed to move in, go for an air mattress. When you’re ready to return to your own bedroom, simply haul your bed back out of the nursery and into your quarters. Easy peasy and baby pleasey. Now it’s your turn! Please join me and link up your {Monday Mom Musings}; anecdotes, game & activity ideas, gems of wisdom, crafts, recent triumphs, or anything else that you’ve learned or would like to share with us this week about parenting.

Julie @ The Path to an Organized Tomorrow says
I avoided having to move baby out of our room by making myself a little nest area (“my spot”) in the living room for night-time nursing. It was easier for me to let my body get used to being up for an hour or so every few hours than it would’ve been to try to sleep with baby in our bed. I watched a few series of television shows via OnDemand and just accepted being awake. Acceptance was key for me.
Thanks so much for hosting! Have a great week!! 🙂

Oh no, I think you may have gotten the wrong idea! Our baby has never slept with us, but rather in a bassinet near the bed. I too just headed to the nursing chair in our room (which later became hers) to zombie nurse. Thanks for stopping by, Julie!
