Simple-chic {quick} chocolate pastries. If you’ve got the urge to impress, a strong craving for a chocolate fix, and a few staples in the pantry, you’re all set to make these pretty chocolate pastries that will make most anyone think that you’re a whiz in the kitchen.
What you’ll need:
- 1 package puff pastry (found in the freezer section)
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 2 T. whipping cream
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions:
If you’ve kept the pastry frozen, move to refrigerator at least 5 hours before beginning the pastries. If refrigerated, remove pastries to the countertop to thaw for 10 minutes while you set out the rest of the ingredients and preheat the oven to 425F.
Combine chocolate chips and cream in a microwave-safe dish and heat in 15 second increments, stirring in between, until chips are melted and the mixture is smooth. Set aside.
Roll out each sheet of pastry a couple of inches beyond it’s pre-packaged size and cut each sheet into 12 equal rectangles. Place a teaspoon of chocolate mixture just below the top of the narrow edges of each rectangle and roll/fold the rectangle over itself. Press the edges to seal in the chocolate.
Place filled pastries on a lightly buttered or parchment-lined baking sheet. Gently brush the tops of each pastry with the egg wash (beaten egg) and place in the oven. Bake 5-10 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool 5 minutes before noshing on these simple-chic chocolate pastries.

I am going to surprise my kids with these today. I have been working seven days a week since May. I haven’t any home made treats in months. This is great, thank you. I like the photographs very much.

Thank you, Matt! I love making these and have to glance sideways to keep from picking up puff pastry every time I walk through the freezer aisle. Thank you so much for visiting!
