How many times have you gone to a family reunion where Auntie May pinched your cheeks and recollected upon days gone by? Well, in that spirit, I remember when chocolate chip cookies were just cookies; plain and simple hit-the-spot goodness when paired with a glass of milk. While I heart those puppies, I have a new spin for you. Let me introduce orange ginger chocolate chip cookies.
Orange Ginger Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 1/2 c. flour
3/4 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. softened butter or margarine
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
1/2 t. orange extract
2 t. freshly grated ginger
1 1/2 c. chips
Combine dry ingredients. In another bowl, beat sugars with butter until fluffy. Add eggs, extracts, and ginger. Slowly stir in dry ingredients and follow with chips. Refrigerate dough for 2 days for maximum goodness. If you’re impatiently awaiting a flavor fiesta, wait 2 hours and bake at 315F for 15 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
