Are you snowed in? I’ve heard all over the place recently about the rampant snowstorms keeping parts of the US snowed in for days.
Can I remind you again how much I love tropical weather? It’s been in the 80’s recently, though much cooler than most Costa Rican summers. February hasn’t been filled with nearly the blistering sun of years past, and we actually have to wear sweats to bed to stay warm. Crazy, I know.
Okay, okay, I just wanted to make a case for hot chocolate, or rather frozen hot chocolate. Here are some stellar variations on hot chocolate that can be enjoyed year-round, with snow on the ground and with summer sunshine beating down. Check them out and I’m sure you’ll forget all about the snow on your doorstep as you hurry to the kitchen and whip out your blender.
Frozen Hot Chocolate from Girl Cooks World An original adaptation from the famous Serendipity NYC staple.
Spiked Frozen Hot Chocolate from That’s What We Said Hot chocolate is not just for the kids anymore!
Cookies and Cream Frozen Hot Chocolate from A Beautiful Mess Who can resist this flavor combo?
Pretzel Frozen Hot Chocolate from Minimalist Baker If this photo doesn’t convince you, the recipe surely will!
Pumpkin White Chocolate Frozen Hot Chocolate from Something Swanky Pumpkin drinks are my downfall. Love!
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Frozen Hot Chocolate from Sweet Treats and More Absolute MUST for all pb lovers.
What’s in your mug today? Me, I’m settling in for a steaming homemade hot peppermint mocha and a good read- about blog design, if you’re curious. It might not be December anymore, but removing that drink from my weekly coffee repertoire is almost as hard as getting Christmas tunes out of my head. Call me crazy, but I love ’em year-round!
Have a beautiful weekend!

Oh these look yummy – my kids love hot chocolate, so frozen hot chocolate would definitely be a hit.
Hi from SITS and from a damp (but not snowy) N Ireland!
Jelli says
Oh, Janmary, I can only daydream about visiting Ireland. Of course, I know little more than the gorgeous scenery from TV, but my husband and I love to travel and I’d adore visiting Ireland some day. Hope you find time for some frozen hot chocolate this weekend. Thank you for visiting!

Joanna @ Everyday Made Fresh says
I have always wanted to make a great frozen hot chocolate. I tried making it once and it didn’t turn out to be anything but watery icy chocolate milk. No good. I will have to try out some of these!
Jelli says
What a bummer, Joanna. Did you use a recipe when you made the frozen hot chocolate? I can see myself winding up with the same less-than-stellar milky mess without a recipe. Hope you give one of these a try!
Tianna says
yum! these all look so delicious!!
Jelli says
Anything including the word “chocolate” looks delish to me lately. Thanks so much for stopping by to check out the frozen hot chocolate recipes, Tianna!
