There’s no doubt about it, kids love messy art projects. The great news is that they can make almost anything around the house into a brilliant masterpiece of art with one ingredient: glue! Recently visiting from the states, my mother-in-law brought me a copy of First Art: Art Experiences for Toddlers and Twos, a book that was high on my wishlist. Finding inspiration there and in my collection of leftover crafting supplies, I added a few dabs of glue to a rose colored sheet of construction paper and demonstrated how to attach crafting knickknacks to the centers of the glue dots.
Summer Elizabeth then went to town gluing buttons, beads, yarn bits, sequins, and Bible verse cards wherever her little heart desired, overlapping permitted. Much glue was squirt and lots of gleaming smiles emanated. We had fun & so will your toddler!
Go ahead, give glue art a try!

Such a fun idea. My oldest has been on a tape kick. She loves to tape all sorts of things to paper and elsewhere. I love giving kids basic materials and seeing what they come up with.

Awesome! I just bought some contact paper this week to make tissue paper collages with Summer. We’ll see how that goes, but I’m pretty sure she’ll like it a lot, as she loves to explore new art materials.
