This week I guess I’m stretching the mixer theme a little bit to share with you some great fitness videos that busy moms can find time to do and enjoy. I don’t talk a lot about exercise here, but I really am a fitness nut. From the time I was a kid doing my mom’s calisthenics VHS, staying fit has been an important part of my life. Now that I’m a mom, I can’t find the time or cash for fancy gym memberships, but I do make daily exercise a priority…generally at naptime.
Before I was pregnant, Jillian Michaels on Netflix was my main go-to. Love her kick-butt workouts. I’ve never finished any of her DVDs feeling less than satisfied. My faves are Banish Fat Boost Metabolism and Ripped in 30.
Now that I’m about 17 weeks pregnant, I’ve changed out the workouts a little. My newest find is Blogilates, a great source of short videos, focusing mainly on Pilates, but also including dance workouts, HIIT, cardio, and other toning workouts. The host, certified Pilates instructor Cassey Ho, is extremely motivating, and chats through her routines like she’s your best friend. Her blog is chock-full of everything fitness & I’m absolutely thrilled to have found her. Sure, she wears booty shorts & rocks out to pop tunes, but the girl knows her stuff! Love that I can mix & match from hundreds of videos each day until Summerbeth wakes up from her nap. We’re talking gonna-be-sore-tomorrow challenging. Love it! Try this 10 minute arms & abs workout, for starters.
Last, but not least, 10 Minute Solutions: Prenatal Pilates is totally worthwhile, especially during the latter months of pregnancy. Lisbeth Garcia, teaching at 36 weeks pregnant, is a sweet host and talks you through the movements as she leads the 5-part pilates program, made up of 10 minute segments targeting different muscle groups. This is the workout I do when I’m not feeling super energetic, but still want to fit in some exercise. It’s not pigtails and kittycats easy, but you won’t be drenched in sweat either.
Hope you’ll take the time for fitness today and maybe check out one of these workouts for busy moms like us.

I found it easier to workout while I was pregnant than now that I have my daughter. I know your pregnant with your second, so I don’t know how you do it! Thanks for the link-up. I’ve put your button on my pinterest page.

Rachel, it’s all about timing now that Summer’s around. If I didn’t work out during nap time, I don’t know if I’d ever get it done. If she slept later in the morning, maybe that would be my opportunity, but since she wakes up with the chickens, that doesn’t work either. Honestly, even 15 minutes of exercise is better than nothing. Hoping you can squeeze in time! Thanks for joining me.

Gosh, that’s awesome. I was doing pretty good about doing yoga several times a week…and then I was put on pelvic rest for a few weeks and have now totally lost my exercise mojo. If I WAS working out right now, I would use Lindsay Brin. I love her–she actually posts videos of her post-baby progress. Very cool. I will have to check out your recommendations though; maybe I can muster up the strength to do 10 minutes a day!!
Jelli says
I’ve never heard of Lindsay, but you can bet I’ll be googling her now! Hope you’re all healed up now from your rest. I’m sure you’ll get back into the swing of fitness again when your body’s ready. Thanks so much for partnering with us this week, Sarah!

what a great post this week Jelli! I have a hard time finding time for myself and sadly my work out is often the first thing to go. But I always feel my best when I make it a priority, which is so important for my family! My new year’s goal this year was to get back into daily workouts, so I’ll definitely be checking out your suggestions!

Great! I sure hope you find one that fits your personality and time schedule. I do really love Cassey Ho’s bubbly personality, so she’s my current fave for sure, even if a little goofy at times 🙂
