My toilet. That’s something I never thought I’d be telling you about.
Now here we are in that awkward silent moment. * crickets chirping*
Toilet jokes seem pretty appropriate right now. Let’s give it a go.
What did one toilet say to another?
“You look flushed.”
Now that we’ve chuckled a little, let’s get down to business. (Pardon the pun).
If you’re into green living, or just want to save some money, look no further than your toilet tank. Gallons of water run through most toilets at each flush. Sometimes most of the time, more water than necessary is used to flush away whatever “gifts” you’ve left behind. The good news is that you can have control over just how much water your toilet sends through the pipes with each flush.
Inserting weighted bottles into your toilet tank replaces some of the water that would otherwise be filling the tank space, thus reducing the amount of water your toilet uses for each flush. All you need to do is fill a few soda bottles with gravel/rocks and place them into your toilet tank. Make sure that they are well placed so as not to interfere with the flushing/filling mechanisms. We have used wine bottles partially filled with water too. Whatever you have around the house that fits into your toilet tank will work. Just do a few “test” runs to make sure that wastes flush away & the tank refills properly.
Happy flushing!
One last toilet note. I saw this at my favorite artisan craft fair last year in downtown San José. Odd.

Love the joke. Thanks for the tip 🙂
Glad to share the chuckle. Have a great week, Crystal!
