Because heirloom family recipes should be shared among friends.
Because coffee has a new best friend.
Because these posh sour cream coffee cake minis are petite and perfect for two.
Because Baby, it’s cold outside and you need some cinnamon sugary goodness to warm you heart and soul.
Share the cinnamony, buttery coffee cake love in pint-size loaves with your friends and family by baking a batch of sour cream coffee cake mini loaves this holiday season or just because. Let’s face it, dessert minis are just plain cute and nobody has to know if you devour the entire cake by yourself.
I’ve shared my mouthwatering recipe for coffee cake recipe before, and this treasured family recipe, passed down from my Great Uncle Jim deserves paparazzi staking out the oven, it’s so tasty. This holiday season, we’re baking sour cream coffee cake in mini loaf pans to package up and share.
Pack the cinnamon sugar-topped cakes in colorful cellophane wraps or traditional parchment paper and tie on a pretty ribbon to make the perfect handmade gift for your coworkers and neighbors.
You could also bake a handful of mini loaves, eat a few today and save the rest for later. They freeze beautifully and make a handy snack when unexpected visitors stop by.

I love coffee cake, with or without coffee. The biggest problem with these is I do believe I’d want to eat them all myself!
Jelli says
Val, I think we’re on the same page. My biggest problem with loving to bake is loving to eat it ALL. My husband always jokes with friends about how I refuse to share desserts with him ;).

I am a sucker for pastries! I am going to have to make that coffee cake. It looks awesome!

I’d love to make some of these treats. They’d be so nice as morning treats. They look so cute wrapped up like that!
Jelli says
Thanks so much, Liz. I do love noshing on coffee cake for breakfast or for a morning coffee break. Sure, it’s probably not as healthy as what I should be snacking on, but hey, that’s how I roll sometimes.

OMG these look absolutely amazing! Too bad that I wouldn’t be able to stop at one….and you’re totally right. My coffee always needs a sweet treat buddy in the morning, no matter what my diet says.
Jelli says
Yep, my coffee needs a sweet treat. Lately I’ve been pairing it with graham crackers, but I sure do make exceptions for things like these mini coffee cakes. Thanks, Amanda, for taking a few minutes out of your busy day to stop by.

I am a complete sucker for sour cream coffee cake with a thick streusel – makes me weak in the knees! Making individual-ish portions in a mini loaf tin is such a great idea, I love it.

Mmmmmmmm Now after I stop drooling all over the place…. I have got to try this recipe. I never knew how to make coffee cake, but I look at your pictures and all I see is CALORIES. Going to have to figure a way to make a low calorie coffee cake… is there such a thing???
Jelli says
I’m sure there is a lighter way to make coffee cake, but when I indulge, it go all IN! Hope you find a way to enjoy this treat soon.

I’m kinda addicted to the coffee cakes they sell at starbucks. I’m glad to see your recipe, and I should make this at home to save some money! It looks delicious.
Jelli says
Ooh! I had no idea that Starbucks even had coffee cake. (Can you tell how much I go in, though I really do love their drinks?) Let’s make a deal: you try baking these coffee cake minis at home and I’ll go try Starbuck’s version?!
vidya sudarsan says
ha! deal! I will come back and give you my feedback 🙂
Starbucks calls them lowfat coffee cake.. but I don’t think it is really low fat :/
Jelli says
I walked into Starbucks yesterday and they didn’t have coffee cake. Boo. Not sure if they carry it here in Costa Rica, but I will keep looking!

This all looks so delicious! Those copycat biscuits from Red Lobster!! Ahh! How on earth did you get them to look exactly like the restaurant??
Jelli says
Thanks so much for the kind words! Actually, getting the Red Lobster biscuits to look like the restaurant’s was as simple as topping them with garlic butter and sprinkling with parsley. So so good!

I think there is a break in your links.. is the recipe for the mini’s the same as the 2 round? if so how long do we cook the mini’s?
Jelli says
Sorry about that! This is an older post and I honestly don’t remember how long I bake these. I’d guess the mini’s would be done in around 25-30 mins.
