How to Get Free Cloth Diapers

February 24, 2014 By Jelli 27 Comments

It is completely possible to get free cloth diapers. Yes, folks- it is, and I have done it myself MANY times. Getting free cloth diapers is easy, you just need to know where to look.

I’ve received 99% of my baby’s cloth diaper stash from good-hearted parents at Diaper Swappers. The site is a virtual garage sale where moms and dads put new and used cloth diapers and other mom & baby items up for sale. You simply log in and message the seller with questions and interest and pay via Paypal.  It’s simple. How to Get FREE Cloth Diapers (in a totally legitimate way!) #clothdiapers | JellibeanJournals.comThe site also offers forums for questions and answers about any and all cloth diaper topics, postpartum advice, and more. I used those forums before my first child was born to decide which types of diapers would best suit our lifestyle and how to launder them properly. Even if Diaper Swappers didn’t give me the chance to get free cloth diapers, it would still be my number one recommended resource to anyone considering using cloth diapers.

Learning how to get free cloth diapers requires good timing and a little patience.

There are two ways to score cloth diaper freebies.

How to get FREE Cloth Diapers- a totally legitimate way to snag freebies. #clothdiapers | JellibeanJournals.comFree for Shipping

Diaper Swappers has a “Free for Shipping” thread, where people give away new and used cloth diapering items daily and require you only pay shipping. Sometimes generous folks will even ship the items to you for free. All you have to do is browse the forum from time to time and check out what’s available. When you see a freebie that’s on your list, contact the seller immediately and if you’re the first one to ask for the item and you’ll most likely have scored your free diapers.

Lottos

Many parents choose to give away brand new or gently used cloth diapers and other baby freebies by raffling them off in the lottos section. Most of the time you just have to let the moms know you’re interested and comment on the thread to be entered. Sometimes they will make a request, like offering a dinner suggestion or telling them your best cloth diapering tip. It’s never difficult and to be honest, I’ve won some pretty swell lots of diapers from these lottos. In fact, I won one that nearly covered half of my newborn cloth diaper stash. Lottos may require you pay shipping, but often the moms are so happy to share the fluffy diapers that they even foot the bill for shipping.

To diaper 2 kids, I’d recommend starting with either one-size diapers that can be adjusted to fit either child, or using a mid-sized prefold diaper that will fit both and purchasing a handful of one-size covers to go with them.

nice! Cotton Babies also had diaper grants for overseas missionaries. I know about 6 families that have gotten the grant which includes everything from the diapers, to the diaper pail liner to cloth wipes! Amazing!

You’re right, Liz. I have that same Cotton Babies post in the wings. Since most my readers aren’t missionaries, I thought I’d start with this one. It’s great to know that you personally know people who’ve used the grant. I’ve only heard of it.

Congrats on being diaper-free! When we potty trained my little girl early I was elated to be done with wiping poopy bums and dealing with diapers. Thank you so much, Allison, for sharing this post. I really appreciate it.

I had no idea about diaper swappers, what a great site. We have a good stash of diapers but I need to get a few more hemp inserts. I will definitely be checking out the forums. Thanks for sharing with the Mixer this week! Looking forward to the recipe party next week. I’ll be in touch soon.

Hemp inserts are great! I always use those in our overnight diapers. I actually got all of mine on Diaper Swappers for a great price.

Kate, you’re going to LOVE it! You have to exercise serious self-control not to snag every discounted fluffy diaper that goes up for sale. SO much cuteness for cheap (and FREE!). Hope you find lots of diapers for your stash.

Pocket diaper without inserts. I brought seperate inserts but in rainy season i stuffed its pocket with old cotton bedsheets and used for longer hours and it dries faster too. Lasted 3hours during daytime and 6-7hours at night
