Jumping First

February 17, 2013 By Jelli 5 Comments

Last month, I shared about our first steps into potty training. We went in pretty blind, with only the information I’d found online. If I had it to do over again, I would’ve stopped and prayed first. psalms 25

In all things we do in life, God gives us wisdom and guidance if we take the time to ask. Jumping ahead of time, taking the can-do approach without even stopping to consult him can lead us into some pretty dangerous territory sometimes.  I penned this excerpt in my journal the other night, and though Husband and I have since given the potty training venture to the Lord (we’re waiting a few months), I just thought I’d share this with you.

She’ll go if she has to when we put her on the potty, but unless the timing’s right… she begs to get up and is inevitbly 30 seconds later standing in a puddle.

We forgot to pray about potty training before we started and are now in the period of wondering whether to give it a rest or plow onward. Sure would’ve been easier if we’d prayed first. Sorry, God. Sorry, Summies. Lesson learned.

Whether you’re facing the giants this week, or simply wondering how you might bless someone else, do yourself a favor and connect first with the Lord. He’s the best source of wisdom & guidance we’re ever going to know, and he just loves one-on-ones with you & me.

Oh so very true! How many times do I start things without praying first. This is something I needed to be convicted about. Thank you!

Love this Jelli! It is so simple too, to just take a few minutes of more to ask God about a situation. Will we humans ever get it right? hehe I sure have a long way to go. Thanks for sharing!
    Blessings,
    Jacy
