Training Pants Best Fit Guide

April 20, 2013 By Jelli Leave a Comment

Getting a good fit for your toddler’s training pants is crucial. Too tight at the waist means the child won’t be able to slide them off quickly. Too big means your munchkin resembles your friendly neighborhood plumber. Achieving a comfortably secure fit isn’t always as easy as it sounds. Trust me, we’ve got 4 brands of training pants that all claim to be size “2T” and let me tell you, they aren’t all created equal.

joe boxer training pants measurementsSummer Elizabeth successfully potty trained at the beginning of April and she’s donned all four brands of trainers at different times. Her little bum fits the smallest, and cutest in my opinion, Joe Boxer training pants best. They’re 100% cotton with a thick waistband that keeps them pulled up as far as her chubby baby belly will allow. They’re my favorite daytime trainers! okie dokie training pants measurementsOkie Dokie trainers are made of a thinner, less absorbent cotton with polyester inner and come in fun prints. The sizing on these is bigger than Joe Boxer but smaller than Gerber. I like them alright, but we use them more as everyday panties than for their wetness absorbing power.Gerber training pants measurementsMy sweet friend Heather from The Flannel Lamb does a rocking job of up-styling Gerber trainers, transforming them into a state-of-the-art potty training essential.  She stitches in additional absorbent flannel layers and an outer waterproof panel to make these panties an indispensable tool for your potty training toolbox.flannel lamb waterproof training pants

She sells colorful prints in her Etsy shop, and was kind enough to mail me a trial set of the Wild Chick print. These panties are by far the largest fitting “2T” trainers we have. They are also impeccably absorbent and the only panties I fully trust to keep Summer’s crib dry during naps. Since we’ve only got 3 of these stunners, they get hand washed almost every day to be sure that we’ve got one on hand. They’re thick but not bulky, and still too big for Summer to wear any time but nap time. If you’re planning to potty train soon, I’d highly recommend you head straight over to The Flannel Lamb and pick up a set!

Hope this information helps you find the perfect fit for your little one’s training pants!
